Samsung Galaxy S25 Full phone specifications
Unofficial preliminary specifications
Samsung’s next compact flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S25, will make its official debut on January 22nd 2025; but we already know what we can expect thanks to all of its leaks. Samsung remains committed to AI research and has demonstrated this with their focus on developing new AI tricks; but we have yet to see whether those can truly become game-changers or simply hype.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 should feature Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset across all markets, while previous Samsung models used an Exynos chipset instead. Rumors also point towards increasing RAM memory to 12GB in order to take full advantage of artificial intelligence (AI).
While camera specs remain unchanged, tweaks to the algorithm promise improved image colors, and you may get access to Pro camera features like Log video and Audio Eraser reminiscent of iPhone cameras. Read on for the complete picture.

What about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim?
THEN there is the rumor of a fourth S25 model that will be called the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim. This comes just after news leaked concerning Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air, so, perhaps Apple won’t be the only one trying to produce the slimmest version of its next flagship phone.
Now, the Galaxy S25 Slim that was rumored to release might not actually drop at the same time as the rest of the S25 bunch. It will instead likely be months behind the other S25 line, perhaps in April, as it’s supposedly arriving at some point in the second quarter of the year. If so, the S25 Slim may hit stores before Apple’s iPhone 17 Slim, which we expect to arrive in September.
How thin could the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim get? There are no details at this time, but given that the current S24 has a thickness of 7.6mm, it should be thinner than this. Or it might even be the S25 SE, only in a smaller package. We know little else about the S25 Slim but it may sport an “Ultra” camera to differentiate itself from Apple’s iPhone 17 Air, which — according to speculation — could feature a single camera lens only.
In terms of its availability, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim might go international. SamMobile report claims a new Samsung device has been discovered with model number SM-S937B. The rest of the S25 series will carry the model numbers SM-S9931x, SM0S936x, and SM-S938x. Since SM-S937B shares the same sequence, it falls under the same family spec as the whole S25 lineup. The “X” would be swapped out for a “U” for U.S. models, while “B” denotes an international release. About the S25 Slim being more widely available is very good news considering that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was only launched in China where it would’ve no doubt sold well otherwise.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 is set to be very similar in design to its Samsung predecessors, with its usual rounded corners, flat sides and three cameras arranged vertically on the rear. Samsung has shrunk the bezels and the screen is slightly larger, too, at 6.3-inches but it shrinks the phone a bit compared to Samsung Galaxy S24 and makes it slightly slimmer, as well.

- LCD Display
- Medium, 304 Stainless Steel
But these are differences you see from a spec table — you would hardly notice those minuscule differences in real life. What you can see is the slightly different camera styling, with each lens now being more defined and pronounced.
The rest is just good ol’ same — aluminum frame, glass back, power and volume keys on the right, and disappointingly, no “camera control” or “action button”. We bring these up because Samsung typically wastes no time when it comes to adopting trends from its main rival, Apple, and we would have loved these new hardware buttons — but they are sadly lacking.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 will be available in four colors:
- Navy
- Iceblue
- Silver Shadow
- Mint
It’s a little odd to see Samsung without a standard classic black model, but we suppose your best alternative is a deep navy dark blue color option.
Once you order, however, don’t expect to find much in the box. Samsung usually includes the phone, a charging cable and the necessary user manuals, but nothing more — no case, no charger. According to rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S25 will feature a slightly bigger, 6.3-inch display, up from the S24’s 6.2-inch screen.
The one new feature we want on the S25 is the anti-reflection screen coating that Samsung launched with last year’s Ultra model. Rumors (sadly) indicates it is not coming to the Galaxy S25. Which is a real shame as this made a massive difference outdoors in visibility of the display. We assume Samsung prefers to keep it exclusive to the Ultra series to drive more sales to flagships.
As for biometrics, it’s the same old – the ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screen. We do hope that one day a 3D face ID technology comes to a Galaxy phone, but it doesn’t look like Samsung is wishing on that one.

- Another rumor makes it sound like the Snapdragon 8 Ethereal will be available in all markets
- Base model bumped to 12GB RAM
- Also, no bump up in storage – 128GB is still the entry-level
Probably the biggest Samsung Galaxy S25 upgrade will be something most United States customers take for granted — the latest Snapdragon chip. For years in the UK (and Europe), Samsung sold its Galaxy flagship with a different chip, a Samsung Exynos one, that was slower and not as advanced, and that tended to annoy customers.
That reportedly changes with the Samsung Galaxy S25, with all global models receiving the beastly Snapdragon 8 Elite. Sadly this could come with a major price jump in some parts of the world, but more on that at the end of this review.

In terms of the good news, the base model of the Samsung Galaxy S25 will feature an upgraded 12GB of RAM — that’s up from the pedestrian 8GB RAM allotment that has been standard for the last few generations. Hooray to that. Base storage disappointing remains at 128GB, but an upgrade to 256GB will be (we really wish 256GB was the baseline stock 2025).

And just in case you were wondering, no microSD card storage support.

- Same camera hardware
- AI to enhance color and brightness of the image
- Support for Log video, New Audio Eraser feature
If you check the camera specs for the Samsung Galaxy S25, you may feel disappointed — it has the same rear triple camera, with the same 50MP main shooter, the same 3X telephoto shooter and even the same ultra-wide.
We do understand your frustrations, but don’t just assume image quality won’t change. According to rumors, AI will make a stronger stage in the camera area, enhancing colors and image brightness in a visible way. For now, though, all this is vague leaks, so we can’t wait to see the official unveiling and get all the info on this.
Video Quality
Two cool new video features, in particular, are said to be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.
First is LOG video recording. This is a feature the pros use and what iPhones introduced few years ago. The advantage of LOG is that you get the full dynamic range of the sensor, but the disadvantage is that it looks washed out and must be color graded, so this is definitely something for pros and enthusiasts.
The other hands-on rumored new functionality is Audio Eraser. This should help eliminate ambient noise from your recordings. Once again, Samsung appears “inspired” by the Audio Mix on the iPhone 16-series, but we cannot exactly blame them for that.
We are also going to be looking for enhancements in the clarity of videos, especially in low light because this has been one sore point in the past.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Software
The new One UI 7, which brings big changes to Samsung UI design, should be directly applied to Samsung Galaxy S25 series smartphones. It’s more modern, you have more transparency, icons are more good looking, you got new widgets and it’s a whole different world.

Read our One UI 7 review for more on this. Well, Galaxy AI will be a significant aspect of the Samsung Galaxy S25 tale. However, we do know that a much smarter Bixby is on its way, and Samsung has been heavily pushing the new phone for its AI prowess. We will update this as we learn more.

Same 4,000 mAh battery size
Charging speed remains at 25W (heck, even the cheapo Samsung Galaxy A36 now allegedly benefits from 45W). No sign of a MagSafe alternative. As exciting as everything has been so far, we were bummed to not see any significant shifts to the battery size on the Samsung Galaxy S25.
Rumors also mention identical 4,000mAh battery capacities, but even odder is that Samsung appears to be sticking to 25W charging speeds, when even the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A36 (a handset half the price) will support 45W charging speeds.
Then there’s MagSafe, or, at the very least, some alternative, which is another feature many individuals have wished for. Just mount your phone in a magnetic holder, at least if it’s in your car or office. Specifically, there are no plans for MagSafe on the Galaxy S25. Standard wireless charging, though, is to be supported at 15W speeds and if you buy a case with magnets you can still snap your phone magnetically.

Should you buy it?
And if you love the idea of the newest superpower Android flagship in tic-tac-toe, then you most certainly have to wait for Samsung’s official Galaxy S25 announcement! Price is a mystery, but we believe it should be either the same at $800 for the base model or swell to as much as $900. Samsung usually offers plenty in terms of trade-ins, though, so you should get a good discount.
Unfortunately, the prices of Samsung Galaxy S25 devices outside the US are apparently set to increase significantly as well. Like before, the overall compact flagship formula doesn’t change too much with the Galaxy S25, but it will have a lot of new AI smarts and super powerful processor. We’ll see if this is enough to put the Galaxy S25 on a throne of compact phones.
